Wal-Mart worker slain at Paris store
PARIS, Ark.—A 60-year-old man was shot dead in the parking lot of the Wal-Mart store where he worked in the west Arkansas city of Paris.
Police arrested 60-year-old Robert Lee James of Paris after the late afternoon shooting on Friday. Witnesses told Fort Smith television station KHOG that the victim was Tony Rice of Paris. Witness M.J. Baine of Paris told the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette that he saw the men fighting and said there were five gunshots. The last of the shots hit the victim in the head. Blaine says the shooter approached the victim after he fell and shot him twice more. Formal charges are pending against James.
