Judge accused of sexual misconduct resigns
ANGLETON, Texas—A Brazoria County judge accused of sexual misconduct involving three female employees pleaded guilty Friday to misdemeanor assault and official oppression charges and resigned his position as part of a plea agreement.
James A. Blackstock was also fined $2,150 and ordered to pay an additional $514 in court costs. The 61-year-old was charged earlier this month with 14 counts of official oppression. He was accused of touching the breast of one of the women in his office as well as while she was driving to Angleton. He was also accused of sending lewd photos to them using a cell phone and e-mail and touching the women under their shirts and kissing them, according to court documents. The incidents took place between July 2007 and June 2008. Under state law, official oppression happens when a public servant abuses his position to mistreat another person. Blackstock could have spent up to a year in jail and ordered to pay a $4,000 fine if convicted on the oppression charge.
