Man accused of trying to run over an acquaintance
JONESBORO, Ark.—Police say they arrested a Mountain Home man on suspicion of trying to run over an acquaintance with his car.
Police arrested 46-year-old David Mason on Saturday. Mason is accused of trying to run over 27-year-old Rustin Statler with his 1995 Ford Contour. “(Statler) was standing at the intersection of Savannah and Culberhouse and said that he saw Mason driving back at him at a high rate of speed,” Officer Lane Holmes wrote in a police report. “He said that he jumped into the bushes to avoid being struck by the vehicle. Mason went ... into the bushes at the intersection trying to strike Statler.” Mason is being held at the Craighead County jail until his probable cause hearing Wednesday.
