Airplane passenger gets prison over cocaine

FORT WORTH, Texas—A Nigerian has been sentenced to 11 1/2 years in U.S. prison for trying to smuggle cocaine in his bag on a flight from Texas to London.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office on Friday announced the penalty for 49-year-old Joe Ezeokeke.

Investigators say he had nearly 9 pounds of cocaine hidden in his checked luggage, stashed in food containers.
