Retrial slated for 85-year-old man accused of killing his wife
GREENWOOD, Ark.—A prosecutor says he will seek another trial for an 85-year-old man accused of killing his wife.
A jury on Friday deadlocked 11-1 in favor of convicting Autry Basham in the August 2007 killing of 83-year-old Marie Basham. Officials say Basham stabbed his wife and then turned the knife on himself. Chief Deputy Prosecutor Dan Shue says his office will pursue another trial. Shue is to become Sebastian County prosecutor in January. Prosecutor Gunner DeLay can’t run for the seat because he was appointed to fill out an existing term. Basham is charged with first-degree murder. Featured Texarkana Business Directory Articles Featured Texarkana Business Directory Coupons
