At least 1 hurt in North Texas storms
DENISON, Texas—Storms damaged or destroyed more than 20 homes and knocked out power to at least 4,000 customers, but most electricity was restored by Tuesday.
One person, in the Collinsville area, suffered minor injuries in the violent weather late Monday, authorities said. Denison Police Lt. Billy Shaw told The Associated Press that “it did appear to be a tornado, by looking at the damage.” National Weather Service representatives planned to review the damage to confirm whether there was a tornado. Shaw estimated two or three homes were destroyed in the Denison area. “Numerous roofs are gone,” Shaw said. Oncor spokeswoman Catherine Cuellar said about 4,000 customers were without power at the height of the storm, in the Denison-Grayson County-Texoma area. By late Tuesday morning crews had restored power to all but about 700 customers, she said. Oncor has about 40,000 customers in the area, according to Cuellar.
