Man who used blue light to stop woman motorist sought
SEARCY, Ark.—Authorities are looking for a man in a pickup truck who allegedly used a flashing blue light to pull over a female motorist.
Police say the woman was pulled over outside Searcy on Feb. 22 and that the man showed no identification and wore civilian clothes. The man used the blue light on the dashboard of his dark blue small truck. A police report says that on Wednesday, the man showed up at the woman’s workplace looking for her. The woman told Searcy police the man’s behavior was suspicious and that she found it disturbing. Searcy police forwarded the investigation to the Arkansas State Police, since the woman was stopped outside the city. State police spokesman Bill Sadler says the agency is investigating but he could not provide details of a continuing investigation. Searcy Chief of Police Kyle Osborne said residents can take protective actions if they think they someone who is not an officer is trying to stop them. He suggested driving to a well-lit, populated area before stopping. Also, motorists can call authorities to confirm whether the person trying to get them to stop is a legitimate law officer.
