Arkansas police identify 2 killed on Interstate 40
The Associated Press
BRINKLEY, Ark.—Arkansas State Police troopers have identified two victims who died during a series of crashes Saturday morning on Interstate 40 near Brinkley. Troopers say Jimmy Harness, 46, and Regina Harness, 57, both of Holly Springs, Miss., were stopped on the interstate’s westbound lanes due to another crash when they were hit from behind in a chain-reaction collision. Police say the pickup truck they were in burst into flames, killing them. Nine other cars were involved in the crashes at 4:51 a.m. Juan Martinez, 44, and David Martinez, age unknown, from Eagle Pass, Texas, also were injured in the crashes. An early crash killed Albert Barnes, 52, of Brinkley. The collisions stalled traffic for hours on the cross-country interstate.
