Arkansas sheriff loses rescue boat searching for rafters
DAMASCUS, Ark.—The Faulkner County Sheriff’s Office has lost its rescue boat after trying to find three men who capsized their inflatable rafts while trying to navigate a rain-fueled creek.
Sheriff’s Maj. Andy Shock told the Conway Log Cabin Democrat that the aluminum eight-person rescue boat capsized and sank Saturday night in Cadron Creek while deputies were searching for the men. No deputy was hurt. The three missing men, who had life vests on when they went into the water, made it to shore and were found at a nearby home. Two were later arrested for public intoxication. Shock said the three men may be ordered to pay restitution to cover replacing the boat and the equipment that was on it.
