Roethlisberger comes to aid of K-9 units
PITTSBURGH—The Ben Roethlisberger Foundation will distribute nearly $100,000 in grants to Pittsburgh area Police and Fire Department K-9 units.
The grants will be used to purchase new canines and protective equipment, and provide improvements to K-9 units. The Pittsburgh quarterback, through the Giving Back Fund, has helped distribute more than $160,000 in grants to canine units in Pittsburgh and cities the Steelers played in 2007. “Much attention is given to professional athletes, but I want to recognize and support the men and women in the police and fire departments who risk their lives to protect our communities and keep us safe,” Roethlisberger said. “Since I happen to love dogs, this program was a unique way to contribute to K-9 units in different cities that play a vital role assisting police and fire efforts.” Featured Texarkana Business Directory Articles Featured Texarkana Business Directory Coupons |
