LITTLE ROCK, Ark.—Zac Ross was well aware of the history—no Harding player had returned a kickoff for a touchdown in about two decades.

“When I got to about the opposing 30 or so, it kind of hit me,” he said.

Ross scored on an 86-yard kickoff return Saturday night, putting the Bisons ahead to stay in a 39-33 win over Southern Arkansas and earning a place in The Associated Press Small College Spotlight.

Harding had gone 786 kick returns without a touchdown. The last kick-return TD was in 1989.
