LIVERPOOL, England—American-owned soccer club Liverpool is cutting ticket prices to help fans feeling the pinch of the global financial crisis.

The team said Thursday that it’s going to reduce prices by $1.50 for games at Anfield, keeping pace with a cut made by rival Everton a day earlier.

The British government had already announced it will cut the basic sales tax (VAT) Monday from 17.5 to 15 percent to in an attempt to kick-start the economy.
