Dave Crowder Band nets 3 Dove Awards
A band with some Texarkana roots garnered critical acclaim last week at the Gospel Music Association’s Dove Awards.
The David Crowder Band, whose lead player and singer grew up in Texarkana, received three awards a little more than a week ago during the 39th Annual GMA Dove Awards held in Nashville, Tenn. Nominated for seven awards, David Crowder Band earned accolades twice for the album “Remedy,” which got nods for best worship album of the year and best recorded music packaging of the year. The song “Everything Glorious” from “Remedy” garnered kudos for rock/contemporary recorded song of the year. Crowder formed his band while studying at Baylor University in Waco, Texas, partly as a way to inspire more church attendance through a musical way of worshipping. In Texarkana, Crowder attended Pleasant Grove High School and First Baptist Church on Moores Lane. Pocket Full of Rocks, which got their start in Texarkana, were also up for a Dove Award, being nominated for praise and worship album of the year for their work on “Manifesto.” —Aaron Brand Featured Texarkana Business Directory Articles Featured Texarkana Business Directory Coupons
