Texarkana Repertory Company and Texarkana College present the Tony award-winning “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum,” a musical comedy of epic Roman proportions, at Texarkana College’s Stilwell Theatre today through Sunday and May 16-18. Arts and Ends

Nanotechnology and nanoscience are featured in the temporary exhibit “Nano Days” at Discovery Place Children’s Museum. The exhibit is self-guided and requires adult supervision. “Grossology: The (Impolite) Science of the Human Body” continues at Discovery Place. The exhibit, which runs until Saturday, explores why the body produces mushy, oozy, crusty, scaly and stinky gunk.

At 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the Perot Theatre, the Texarkana Symphony Orchestra presents a concert titled “Viva Opera!” with music by Gioacchino Rossini, Giuseppe Verdi, Ruggero Leoncavallo and Giacomo Puccini.

The concert preview starts at 6:45 p.m. The show features solo soprano Jane Redding and solo baritone Lawrence Harris, the Texarkana Regional Chorale, Texarkana College Choir and the Shreveport Chorale. The Marion County Chamber of Commerce will hold its second annual Saint Patrick’s Day Fest on Saturday in Jefferson, Texas, at Otstott Park. An Irish Stew Cook-off will be held at the Otstott Gazebo and the public is invited to bring a bowl of stew to be judged and tasted. Entrants should have their pot of stew ready by 11:45 a.m.

The 2008 CASA “Edge of Texas” Golf Tournament and Songwriters on the Edge of Texas Concert will both benefit CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) for Children.

The golf tournament will be held at Northridge Country Club on Monday. Entry fees are $125 per person, which includes a green fee, cart, gift package, lunch and a ticket to the pre-tournament concert and auction. Morning registration is at 7 a.m. and afternoon registration and lunch is at noon.

The concert brings the South Austin Jug Band, Adam Carroll, Jason Eady, Owen Temple and New Jack & The Rippers to Texarkana at 6 p.m. Sunday. The concert takes place at the Oasis Pavilion at Four States Fairgrounds. Tickets for the concert with dinner included are $50.
