“Sparks in the Park” will be at Four States Fair Grounds at 2 p.m. Saturday. Activities include a climbing wall, horseshoes, Guitar Hero competition, Texas Motor Speedway exhibit and, for the kids, a sandbox, petting zoo and inflatable play zone. Live music begins with Ben Coulter at 4 p.m., Anointed Angels at 6 p.m., The Johnny Deeds Band at 7 p.m. and Loose Change at 8:30 p.m. Fireworks will begin at 9:30 p.m.

The 15th Anniversary of “Jefferson Salutes America” in Jefferson, Texas, will be 5 p.m. today downtown at Otstott Park, corner of Lafayette and Vale streets. The “Fireworks Fantazmagoria” will begin at 9:30 p.m. over Jefferson’s Big Cypress Bayou.

The annual Tomato Festival in Avery, Texas, is today through Saturday. Arts and Ends

The Texarkana Regional Arts and Humanities Council will host “Color Texarkana” this July for children 5 to 11. There are 10 sessions. Morning sessions are from 10 a.m. until noon. Afternoon sessions are from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. Dates are Tuesday (July 8), Thursday (July 10), July 15, July 22 and July 24.

This year’s theme is “Our Parks in Color.” Children will create works that showcase the many parks throughout Texarkana and the finished pieces will be displayed on the art wall in the ArtSpark at 4th and Main Streets during the summer. Texarkana Community Music Education is enrolling now for its band camp.

Private lessons and groups classes are available, as well as a wide variety of fun ensembles. Six different sessions are available. Instruments taught are the flute, oboe, saxophone, clarinet, bassoon, trumpet, trombone, and baritone.

The Texarkana Museums System presents two new exhibits, both open through August.

“Main Treasures: A Celebration of Downtown” is open at the Museum of Regional History, 219 N. State Line Ave. The exhibit features items recently found among downtown Texarkana buildings, as well as items from the permanent collections. Admission: $5 for adults, $3.50 for children.

“Mystery of the Mayan Medallion” is on display at Discovery Place Children’s Museum, 215 Pine St. It’s a hands-on exhibit giving insight into many aspects of Mayan culture. Admission: $4.50 ages 5 and up, free for children 4 and under.
