Dimensions in Blue, the United States Air Force jazz ensemble, will play a free community concert at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 14, at Arkansas High School in Texarkana.

Tickets will be available starting Monday at two locations in Texarkana and for a limited time by mail. Details will be released in the Sunday Texarkana Gazette. Although the tickets are free, they must be picked up in advance.

The well-traveled group performs a wide variety of music ranging from the classics of Duke Ellington, Count Basie and Woody Herman, to the more contemporary sounds of Rob McConnell, Bob Mintzer and Frank Mantooth.



Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman will hit the big screen at Cinemark 14, 4230 St. Michael Drive, for a one night only premier of “Long Way Down” at 7:30 p.m. Thursday. Little River County Historical Society will sponsor the fourth annual Two Rivers Gala at 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 2 at Texarkana Country Club. A silent auction will benefit the Two Rivers Museum. Historic Washington State Park will have summer day camps from 9 a.m. to about 4 p.m. Aug. 4-8. Children will experience 19th century life. The camp is for 4th grade through 6th graders. Arts and Ends

The Texarkana Regional Arts and Humanities Council will host “Color Texarkana” this July for children 5 to 11. Morning sessions are from 10 a.m. until noon. Afternoon sessions are from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. Days are Tuesday and Thursday.

Children will create works that showcase the many parks throughout Texarkana and finished pieces will be displayed in the ArtSpark at 4th and Main streets during the summer. Cost: $5 per session. Reservations required. Info: 903-792-8681 and artsinfo@trahc.org

The Texarkana Museums System presents two new exhibits, both open through August.

“Main Treasures: A Celebration of Downtown” is open at the Museum of Regional History, 219 N. State Line Ave. The exhibit features items recently discovered in downtown Texarkana, as well as items from the permanent collections. Admission: $5 for adults, $3.50 for children.

Hands-on exhibit “Mystery of the Mayan Medallion” is on display at Discovery Place Children’s Museum, 215 Pine St. Admission: $4.50 ages 5 and up, free for children 4 and under.
