Even though Jump, Jive and JamFest is taking a hiatus next year, the festival is still earning rave reviews.

The Texas Festivals and Events Association recently honored the Texarkana Regional Arts and Humanities Council with the Marketing Award for best event photograph for its 2008 JJJ celebration. The photo was taken by Jeanna Ross, who received a similar award last year from the Arkansas Festivals and Events Association.

The Texas association also awarded the JamFest with best education program for Student Day and best children’s program for Critter Breakfast. The programs were presented partly by Women for the Arts through the Party With Picassos and Picassos Tea funds.

According to Brian Goesl, TRAHC executive director, the JamFest was honored more than any festival in the $75,000 to $250,000 category.

“Judges were from different parts of the country, so this is certainly a validation that Texarkana has a highly regarded spring event,” Goesl said in a statement.
