Henry Matthews and his Oaklawn Opry entertainers will travel to Horseshoe Bend, Ark., for a special Friday night show on Sept. 26.

Matthews and the Opry will perform at 6 p.m. at the historic Horseshoe Bend Theatre, 811 Second St. Admission is $5.

Matthews is a former Arkansas State Fiddle Champion and a master on the steel guitar. He opened Oaklawn Opry more than 10 years ago in Texarkana.

Melodie Clemmons, the talent coordinator at the Horseshoe Bend Theatre, says her friendship with Matthews goes back to 1982 when he was playing at the Ashdown (Ark.) Jamboree. His country show is expected to fit in nicely with the Horseshoe Bend Theatre’s Music in the Mountains theme.

That theme comes back to the fore the next night, when the regular Horseshoe Bend Theatre show returns to the stage.
