The ARTEX Animal Welfare Association hosted its annual “Dog Days of Summer Gala” at the Texarkana Country Club on Aug. 16. Proceeds from the well-attended summer event goes to several programs including providing veterinary assistance to pets in need, a low cost or no-cost spay and neutering program and a foster program for pets who have been abused, neglected or abandoned and need a home.

The association also works closely with governent and law enforcement agencies on community animal welfare issues.
