Taste of Texarkana will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Four States Fair Grounds. More than 40 area restaurants and food and beverage distributors will participate in this benefit for the Harvest Texarkana foodbank. American Pit Bull Terrier Club of East Texas is having annual Conformation Show and Weight Pull on Saturday and Sunday at the Four States Fair Grounds. Cass County Conservancy presents Don Henley in concert at 7 p.m. Saturday at Music City Texas Theater in Linden. The concert will benefit the Cass County Courthouse Restoration Project. Red Lick Elementary School is hosting its Fall Festival from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday. Once known as the fall carnival, the event dates back to the 1950s and has been a long standing social event. Fun, games, food, desserts, BINGO, pumpkin painting, cake walk, hay maze and costume contest are all part of the affair. The school is located at FM 2148 North.



Steven Sondheim’s musical dazzler “Sweeney Todd” is coming to the Perot Theatre in Texarkana at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 2. Texarkana Regional Arts and Humanities Council presents this Tony-winning Broadway smash hit. Much lighter than the movie, the stage rendition provides its own infamous variation of hair-raising excitement, audacious humor and lush melody. Hooks First Baptist Church will host John Dylan Benefit Concert for 2008 Angel Trees at 7 p.m. Saturday. John Dylan Riddle, a 15-year-old Christian songwriter/guitarist, will perform some of his own songs along with local artists Gage Baird, Angela Walker and other youth in the community. Open donations at the door will benefit children in Bowie County Foster Care.



Wake Village Masonic Lodge is hosting a community wide garage sale from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. The lodge will be selling breakfast, lunch and drinks. Proceeds benefit the repair and restoration of the lodge building. Info: 903-838-7911.

Historic Washington State Park will have Washington After Dark beginning at 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Saturday. There will be a tour and stories of unexplained events. Tickets $25 adults, $20 children under 14. Registration: 870-983-2684.

They will also be having Civil War Weekend Friday, Oct. 31 through Sunday, Nov. 2. The park will be open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Cost is $8 adults and $4 children.



Jefferson, Texas, hosts “Terror on the Bayou” each weekend in October. Events will include a G-rated tour through the Screamin’ Corn Maze, Runaway Fright Train and Monster Tractor Safari. They will also have “Taste of Jefferson” on Sunday on Austin Street. Local restaurants, cafe owners and non-profit organizations bring samples of their finest foods. Lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tickets $10 adults and $5 children 5-11 years old.



Gilmer, Texas, will have Three Solo Airshow Stars Plus World War II Flying Legends from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 4 at Fox Stephens Field and the Flight of the Phoenix Aviation Museum. Pilots are Jan Collmer in the Fina 300 Extra, Paul Fiala in his open cockpit Great Lakes Bi-Plane and John MacGuire in his PiperSuper Cub. Admission is free and gates open at 9 a.m.



Arts and Ends

Texarkana’s Regional Arts Center, 321 W. Fourth St., is hosting Landscape: Selections from the Wachovia Securities Art Collection through Dec. 6. Exhibit includes works by Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein and Christo. The four States Art Club/Decorative Artists Exhibit is also on display at the RAC. The exhibit will run through Nov. 1. The 5th annual competition of “WRITE! ON ART” has begun. Participants view landscapes exhibit and write impressions. Info: 903-792-8681.

The board for the Arkansas Flower and Garden Show and Arkansas Burger Co. of Little Rock is sponsoring an art contest for high school students.
