Music City Texas Theater in Linden will definitely highlight the Texas part of its name this weekend and next.

Saturday sees the First Saturday Show with Richard Bowden with Moon & the Starz performing their Texas-tangy tunes, along with special guest Troy Allan, an eclectic Texas musician from the Vidor area.

Then on Dec. 13, Asleep at the Wheel comes to town once again, the third time they’ve been around these parts in the past year—once with the show “A Ride With Bob.” Fans need little introduction to these Western swing kings, who’ve amassed Grammy awards and loyal followers since starting in 1970.

“A Ride With Bob,” led by Ray Benson, captures an imaginary conversation between Benson and legendary swing musician Bob Wills. Wills takes Benson on a tour of his life.

Asleep at the Wheel, though, for this East Texas stop, will perform their regular show, which should please fans just fine. It’s a cheerful kind of music for the holiday season.

Singer and songwriter Troy Allan will join Bowden’s band Saturday night. Allan’s a busy man, playing bass with the band Hanna’s Reef, who’ve traveled Texas and elsewhere playing their Texas beach and Jimmy Buffett-inspired songs.

Allan, whose first studio album is “Just South of Corpus,” does a bit of everything for his solo shows, but has country roots and cut his teeth on Van Halen and AC/DC.
