The City of Texarkana, Ark., will host Sparks in the Park from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday at the Four States Fairgrounds. Music headliner is Hazy Jayne.

Red River Army Depot hosts the 2009 Army Soldier Show July 7 at the Four States Fairground Arena. Doors open at 6 p.m. Show starts at 7 p.m. The free show is open to the public, no ticket required.



Texarkana Elks Lodge No. 399 will sponsor their annual fishing rodeo for children under 12 from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday. Hourly prizes with grand prizes awarded to the boy and girl with the biggest catches. Info: 870-772-7839.



First Baptist Church, Hooks, Texas, will host a July 4th Celebration at 7 p.m. Saturday. Food, music and games with fireworks at 9 p.m. Free admission, small charge for refreshments. Opera House Theatre Players will perform “Singin’ in the Rain” at 7:30 p.m. today and Saturday at the Russell Building in downtown Jefferson, Texas. Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for children under 12 and are available at Blessings Gift Shop or by calling 903-665-2310.

Avery (Texas) Tomato Festival will be from 6 p.m. to midnight today and from 6 a.m. to dusk Saturday. There will be contests, the Tomato Queen Pageant, a teen dance, parade, 5-K run, fireworks, carnival rides, live music, craft and food booths, lawnmower racing, horseshoe tournament and more. Caddo Lake State Park and Wildlife Management Area will commemorate the park’s opening 75 years ago on Saturday. There will be a special program on the Civilian Conservation Corps and Caddo Indians that will include traveling exhibits. Caddo Lake is 26,000 acres of sprawling cypress swamps, bayous and bottoms.
