T. Graham Brown headlines ‘Stand Up for America’

Brown
With the music of T. Graham Brown, the Chimney Rock Band and the Community Blues Band, it will be easy to “Stand Up for America” during the Fourth of July celebration in Nashville, Ark., at the city park amphitheater.

Brown will be the featured entertainer for Nashville’s 20th annual “Stand Up for America” event.

The singer’s music is described as beach music, a party-ready mix of old-time rock ‘n’ roll, R&B, country and blues, according to a CMT feature.

Born in Arabi, Ga., (his real first name is Anthony), he got his start performing while attending the University of Georgia, as part of the beach-music duo Dirk & Tony. He then joined the outlaw country band Diamond Rio, and retooled his image as a hairy, tattooed wildman in a 10-gallon hat.

In 1979, Brown formed his own R&B band, “Rack of Spam,” and officially settled on T. Graham Brown as his stage name.

The “Stand Up for America” tickets are $10 each until Friday and then the price will be $15.

The money earned from the show will be split evenly to support the daily operations of the Nashville, Ark., Chamber of Commerce office and the city park, said Tammy Smith, chamber executive director.

The gates open at 4:30 p.m. Saturday.

At 5 p.m. the Chimney Rock Band will perform followed by a patriotic tribute at 5:45 p.m. Smith said the Chimney Rock Band plays 1950s and 1960s rock ‘n’ roll music.

At 6:30 p.m. the Community Blues Band from Delight will perform blues, jazz and soul music.

Local musicians make up the Chimney Rock and Community Blues bands.

T. Graham Brown performs at 8 p.m. and at about 8:45 p.m. the fireworks display starts.

“We will have all types of food and drinks. And we encourage people to bring lawn chairs and quilts,” said Smith.
