Man charged in hit-and-run that killed toddler

An Arkansas man has been charged with manslaughter and leaving the scene of an injury crash after he allegedly lost control of his vehicle and struck the wagon a toddler was riding in, according to Arkansas State Police.

Thomas A. Fuell, 21, of Prattsville was arrested by ASP Criminal Investigation Division special agents this morning and taken to Saline County Jail, said Bill Sadler, ASP spokesman.

About 3:30 a.m. July 10, state troopers were dispatched to a crash scene along Arkansas Highway 190 south of Benton, Sadler said.

Fuell allegedly lost control of the vehicle he was driving and struck the wagon a woman was pulling. Inside the wagon was a 2-year-old child who was later pronounced dead at Saline Memorial Hospital, according to state police.

Fuell reportedly fled the crash scene, police said.
