Former lawmaker to lead Arkansas natural resources agency

LITTLE ROCK-Gov. Asa Hutchinson has named a former state senator to lead the Arkansas Natural Resources Commission.

The governor on Tuesday announced the appointment of Bruce Holland, who will replace retiring director Randy Young. Holland has served as executive director of the Arkansas Livestock and Poultry Commission for the past year and a half.

Before that, Holland served four years as a Republican state senator from Greenwood.

Young is retiring this week after 45 years with the agency. In a statement, Hutchinson praised Young's leadership and "steadfast devotion" to the commission for the past four decades.
