Storm dumps heavy rain in north-central region of Arkansas

CLINTON, Ark.-Storms moved across northern Arkansas, dumping heavy rain and causing flooding in the town of Clinton.

National Weather Service meteorologist Sean Clarke in Little Rock says 5.1 inches of rain fell in about a two-hour period Sunday night in the town of about 2,500, about 60 miles north of Little Rock.

Clinton Mayor Richard McCormac said Monday an unknown number of homes and businesses received flood damage and some streets are closed because of damage and high waters.
