Three people were arrested last week after an officer found 30 pounds of marijuana aboard a commercial transporter during a safety inspection in Northwest Arkansas, officials said.

On May 15, an Arkansas Highway Police officer conducted a safety inspection on a commercial transporter carrying a load of passenger vehicles near mile marker 3 on Interstate 40 near Van Buren, according to the Arkansas Department of Transportation. The officer found marijuana hidden in the fuel tank of a Ford pickup on the transporter.

Police also seized $7,160 in cash.

The truck came from Colorado and was delivering the vehicles to Kansas and Miami. Leonardo Santana, Leonel Santana and Alejandro Figueroa, all 31 years old and from Miami, were arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver. The trio were taken to the Crawford County jail.

The transporter was operated by Nationwide Transporters of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
