Two found dead in wrecked car near highway

LESLIE, Ark.-Arkansas State Police say a state trooper discovered two decomposed bodies inside a wrecked vehicle along U.S. 65 in the Ozark Mountains.

State police spokesman Bill Sadler says the vehicle was crashed near a tree line along the highway near Leslie, about 75 miles (120 kilometers) north of Little Rock. Sadler tells the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette that the area often has thick foliage but a trooper happened to see the vehicle this week.

Sadler says authorities have sent along information to police in Warrensburg, Missouri, to see if the remains belong to two people were reported missing there more than a month ago. But Sadler emphasized that no identification has been made yet of the bodies, which will be sent to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory for
autopsies.
