Former Arkansas National Guard head running for state House

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - The former commander of the Arkansas National Guard says he's running for a seat in the state Legislature.

Retired Lt. Gen. Mark Berry on Monday announced he's seeking the Republican nomination next year for the state House District 82 seat currently held by GOP Rep. Sarah Capp. The district includes portions of Crawford, Franklin and Madison counties. Capp has said she's not seeking re-election next year and will instead run for a district court judgeship.

Berry was named adjutant general of the Arkansas National Guard in early 2015 and retired this year.
