Texarkana developers win twin honors

For Texarkana, Texas-based Max Alley Construction and Real Estate Services, a 2015 Fortune 300 Retailer's Developer Appreciation Gala Dinner delivered a double blessing.
Max Alley received the retailer's top honor twice-one for its construction group and the other for its investment group.
Max Alley Investments took home the Developer of the Year Award, while Max Alley Construction Inc. received Contractor of the Year from the Retailer, Family Dollar, for quality workmanship, on-time delivery and competitive pricing.
Max Alley co-founders Curt Green said James Herrington founded Max Alley in 2009 after deciding to name their company after their two dogs-Green's Jack Russell terrier, Max, and Herrington's black Labrador retriever, Alley.
Green added that Max Alley bested 20 competing investment groups and up to 80 competing construction groups for the awards.
During the past 18 years, Green and Herrington have developed more than 300 projects in 12 states for Fortune 300 and Fortune 500 national companies, which not only include Family Dollar, but also Advance Auto Parts, Christian Brothers Automotive, Raising Cane's, Taco Bueno and other retail, medical, office and financial clients.
Besides construction, investment, development and architectural services, Max Alley also offers property management and site selection.
"We may be cutting-edge on technology, but our site election team spends as much 'windshield time' as 'Google time,'" Herrington said in a prepared statement. "Professional Real Estate Managers for Fortune 500 companies have relied on us with confidence for more than 15 years."
Max Alley's property management services include marketing and advertising, leasing preparations and review, collection, tenant correspondence, site maintenance and annual budget preparation.
"We've been doing property management for more than 20 years now, and we've developed a very keen understanding of income and expenses," Green said. "Our commitment to excellence can be seen in every building and relationship we've created along the way."
A graduate of Stephen F. Austin University and Texarkana Chamber of Commerce's Leadership Texarkana program, Herrington has held real estate licenses in Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas since 1979.
Green received a Bachelor of Business Administration from University of Arkansas in 1973 and has 35 years of construction company ownership and experience. He started work in the construction field with his uncle's company and built his first custom home in 1976.
