Tami Hooker excused herself in the final seconds of Tuesday night’s Region II-3A boys quarterfinal playoff game between Liberty-Eylau and Van at Tatum High School’s Eagle Arena.

Hooker is the wife of L-E co-head coach Jason Hooker, and dramatic conclusions to several Leopard games this season have chased one of the team’s biggest fans from the stands on occasion.

“Tami just can’t take the suspense,” Jason said after senior Praise Greene’s buzzer-beater gave L-E a 41-39 victory over Van. “Heck, I wish I could have gone with her.”
