My, this job is changing.

There was a time when the car companies enveloped me in only the biggest and best. Mega-cruisers. Fully loaded. More power than common sense would dictate.

Of late, however, the marketing push is for fuel sippers. I’ve spent so much time behind the wheel of econo-boxes that I’m starting to feel like a circus clown driving in a parade.

OK. It’s not that bad. I drove plenty of little cars when I was younger, and today’s subcompacts are much, much better.
