On Tuesday, the same day Texas A&M-Texarkana publicly christens its new Science and Technology Building, the Texarkana College Board of Directors will determine the fate of its president, Frank Coleman.

The timing couldn’t be more peculiar. On one hand, the beginning of a new era in Texarkana education is being celebrated. On the other, for reasons that are altogether unclear, the renewal of Coleman’s contract has become a contentious issue that has divided the board and has his legion of loyal supporters crying conspiracy.
