This week in 1965, 350 Vietnam protestors were arrested in Washington, 53 bodies were removed after a fire in a Titan 11 missile, 70,000 listened to the New York Philharmonic in Central Park, and an Oklahoma singer had his 5th hit record.

A lot of hit songs came from real-life situations, and according to Ted Harris, the idea for Carl Belew’s 1965 hit, “Crystal Chandelier,” was just such a tune.
