This week in 1957, Carmen Basilio beat Sugar Ray Robinson to take the world middleweight title, President Eisenhower sent troops to Little Rock and federalized The Arkansas National Guard, and a Kingsland, Ark., singer had his 10th charted song.

Ideas for songs can come from just about anywhere. According to songwriter Glenn Douglas Tubb, the idea for Johnny Cash’s 1957 hit, “Home Of The Blues,” came from a Memphis, Tenn., record shop.
