Timing is everything. Seeing is believing.

Those two platitudes will be intertwined during this weekend’s state championship football games in Texas, particularly when it applies to a couple of men who have opportunities to win rings very early in their head-coaching careers.

Scott Surratt already owns a ring as offensive coordinator of Texas High’s 2002 Class 4A, Division I state championship. He gets a shot for another Friday night at the same site when he leads the Carthage Bulldogs into Texas Stadium against tradition-rich Celina.
