BILL BRIGGS

William H. “Bill” Briggs, 92, of Texarkana, Texas, died Monday, March 24, 2008, in DeKalb, Texas.

Mr. Briggs was born May 12, 1915, in Statesville, Ala. He was retired from the Postal Service, a Realtor, builder and songwriter, a World War II Navy veteran and a member of American Legion, Elk’s Club and Williams Memorial United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Cleo McCullar Briggs.

Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Prouty Briggs of Texarkana; three stepsons, Forrest Roraback of Clarksville, Texas, Mark Roraback of Jefferson, Texas, and Darwin Roraback of Austin; one stepdaughter, Stacey Roraback of Austin; five nieces and nephews, Linda Lillard of Acton, Texas, Patricia Adams of Texarkana, Jessie Johnson of Colorado Springs, Colo., Bill Ormond of Sterlington, La., and Katherine Moore of Shreveport, La.; and a number of stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Texarkana Funeral Home, Texas, with the Rev. Darwin Roraback officiating. Graveside services with military honors will be 3 p.m. Saturday in Pine Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Bernice, La.

Visitation will be 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
