MOUNT PLEASANT, Texas—James L. Webster, 83, of Mount Pleasant died Sunday, April 27, 2008, in Mount Pleasant. Mr. Webster was born Feb. 7 1925, in Bryans Mill, Texas. He was the pastor at Mount Gilmore Baptist Church, retired from Red River Army Depot, secretary and treasurer of Cypress First District, treasurer of Cypress District Association, Mount Pleasant Ministries Union and Ministers Union Community Mission Scholarship Fund, chaplain board for Titus Regional Medical Center and vice president of TRIAD Group. He was preceded in death by his wife, Vernella Hamilton Webster; and one son, James G. Webster Sr. Survivors include one son, Mark D. Webster of Dallas; one daughter and son-in-law, Shelia and Harold Lewis of Mount Pleasant; one goddaughter, Patricia Brooks of Dallas; one special friend, Marva Holston of Hooks, Texas; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives. Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at South Jefferson Baptist Church with the Rev. Kirthell Roberts officiating. Burial will be in Searcy Cemetery under direction of Tumey Mortuary. Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and the body will lie in state from 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Following the wake the family will have a memorial service at Mount Gilmore Church at 7:45p.m. Memorials may be made to Mount Pleasant Ministers Union Scholarship Fund, c/o Rev.
