FLORENCE, Ala.—Alvin “Cagin” Dixon, 76, of Rogersville, Ala., died Thursday, April 24, 2008. Mr. Dixon was born June 25, 1931, in Ozan, Ark. He was a lumber and trucking worker, a member of Christian Mission Missionary Baptist Church, Rogersville, and an Army veteran. He was preceded in death by by his wife, Gladys Moore; and one daughter, Cheryl. Survivors include his wife, Mattie Benson Dixon of Marshall, Texas; six children, Helen “Pedi” Pighee of Cleveland, Ohio, Sandra Lyons of Swansea, Ill., Rosilyn Price of Dermott, Ark.; Retia Duncan of Lewisville, Texas, Marcus Dixon of San Antonio and Michael Hawkins of Texarkana; two sisters, Maple Ingram of Rogersville and Alverlean Greathouse of McNab, Ark.; one brother, Ulysses Dixon of Foreman, Ark.; four stepchildren; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a number of other relatives. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Christian Mission Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. C.D. Ingram officiating. Burial will be in Thorntown Cemetery under direction of Thompson and Son Funeral Home. The body may be viewed 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church.
