NASHVILLE, Ark.—Robbie Hugh Beene, 90, of Nashville died Wednesday, April 30, 2008, in a local hospital.

Mr. Beene was born Nov. 14, 1917, in Lockesburg, Ark. He was a retired electrician with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Narrows Power Plant, a Western Union telegraph operator, a member of NARFE and Sunset Church of Christ and a World War II veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Thressa Beene of Nashville; two sons and daughters-in-law, Billy and Peggy Beene of Huntsville, Ala., and Eddie and Vickie Beene of Nashville; two daughters, Betty Johnson of Nashville and Bobby Ponder of Weatherford, Texas; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Latimer Funeral Home with David Williams and Robert Peek officiating. Burial will be in Nashville Cemetery.

Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
