LINDEN, Texas—James Scott Burns, 39, of Linden died Tuesday, April 29, 2008, in Marion County, Texas.

Mr. Burns was born April 6, 1969, in Longview, Texas. He was a Texas Department of Public Safety trooper, a former Texas Department of Corrections officer and a member of First Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Michaela of Linden; one daughter, Micah Burns of Linden; his parents, Ronnie and Judy Burns of Linden; two brothers, Stephen Burns and Stacy Burns of Linden; his grandfather, Billy Fort of Jefferson, Texas; and a number of other relatives.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Jackie Stanfield officiating. Burial will be in Shiloh Cemetery under direction of Reeder-Davis-Schindler Funeral Home.

Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the church.

Memorials may be made to the Shriners.
