Jo Ann Barber, 73, of Grand Prairie, Texas, died Wednesday, April 30, 2008, in Mansfield, Texas.

Ms. Barber was born Jan. 11, 1935, in Dalby Springs, Texas. She was a former employee of Lone Star Day & Zimmermann Ammunition Plant and New Boston Convalescent Centery, and a former choir member, choir president and member of St. Paul Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, William E. Barber Sr.

Survivors include four sons, Mark Barber of Dallas, the Rev. William Barber Jr. of Longview, Texas, Terry Barber of Balch Springs, Texas, and Felix Barber of Grand Prairie; one daughter, Janet Bell of Dallas; one sister, C. Myrel Handy of Dallas; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. today at St. Paul Baptist Church with the Revs. William Barber Jr. and Edward Boone officiating. Burial will be in Garland Cemetery, DeKalb, Texas, under direction of Haynes Mortuary.
