FORT SMITH, Ark.—Maxine Hector, 86, of Texarkana, Texas, died Saturday, May 3, 2008, in Texarkana.

Mrs. Hector was born July 24, 1921, in Kearney, Neb. She was a retired fair manager for the State of California and a Catholic. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Hector.

Survivors include one daughter, Linda Edelen of Barling, Ark.; one son, Herb Hector of Barling; two grandsons and one granddaughter-in-law, Tom and Cindy Edelen of Hackett, Ark., and George Edelen of Fort Smith; and three great-grandchildren, Korie, Kenlie and Trevor.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Fort Smith National Cemetery. Burial will be under direction of Fentress Mortuary.

Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
