HUGHES SPRINGS, Texas—Dan Evans, 87, of Lone Star, Texas, died Tuesday, May 6, 2008, in a Pittsburg, Texas, hospital.

Mr. Evans was an employee of Grogan Supply Lumber Yard, Daingerfield, Texas, and a member of Shady Grove Christian Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Clara Evans; and one daughter, Emma Jean Evans.

Survivors include one son, D.E. Evans; six daughters, Emma Faye Evans, Martha Shaw, Jo Ann Evans, Jane Evans, Gloria Smith and Rosie Gasaway; and a number of other relatives.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Shady Grove Christian Church, Cason, Texas, with Kenneth Fredrick officiating. Burial will be in Shady Grove Cemetery under direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home.
