Richard Sim Hoover, 85, of Bossier City, La., died Friday, May 9, 2008, in a Shreveport, La., hospital.

Mr. Hoover was born Feb. 16, 1923, in Gurdon, Ark. He was a retired attorney, former deacon and member of Central Christian Church, a member of American Legion, Louisiana Bar Association and First United Methodist Church, Shreveport, and a World War II Army veteran.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Debra and Brett Sempter of Haughton, La., and Allison and Mark O’Dell of Telluride, Colo.; one brother and sister-in-law, Harry “Hootie” and Annette Hoover of Hot Springs Village, Ark.; three grandchildren, Kelly Sempter, Collin O’Dell and Shawn O’Dell; one great-granddaughter, Jordyn Sempter; and a number of other relatives.

Graveside services will be 3 p.m. today at Stateline Cemetery with the Rev. Jeff Robinett officiating. Burial will be under direction of Texarkana Funeral Home, Texas.
