HUGHES SPRINGS, Texas—Clara Maud Cannon Capps, 91, of Lone Star, Texas, died Thursday, May 15, 2008, in a Longview, Texas nursing home.

Mrs. Capps was born Feb. 5, 1917, in Crossroads community, Texas. She was a member of the Rebeccas, the Gadabouts, Lone Star, and Lone Star Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ardell Capps; and two sons, Johnny Floyd Smith Jr. and Donald Ray Capps.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Arlis and Jane Capps of Mesquite, Texas; one daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Danny Stewart of Longview; three grandchildren and two spouses, Melissa and Allen Craig of Greenville, Texas, Christopher and Wendy Stewart of White Oak, Texas, and Casey Stewart of Houston; and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Reeder-Davis Funeral home with the Rev. Rick Monds officiating. Burial will be in Creekmore Cemetery, Naples, Texas.

Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
