ATLANTA, Texas—James W. Carney Sr., 76, of Atlanta died Wednesday, May 14, 2008, in Atlanta.

Mr. Carney was born Dec. 28, 1931, in Crystal Springs, Miss. He was a pipefitter, a Methodist and a National Guard veteran.

Survivors include two sons and one daughter-in-law, David and Gay Carney of Atlanta and James Watkins Carney Jr. of Doddridge, Ark.; one sister, Helen McClain of Gulf Shores, Ala.; three grandchildren and one spouse, Amanda and Josh Farmer, Jennifer Carney April Carney of Atlanta; and one great-grandchild, Corban Farmer of Atlanta.

Memorial services will be 2 p.m. today at New Hope Baptist Church, Bloomburg, Texas, under direction of Hanner Funeral Service.
