MOUNT PLEASANT, Texas—Carroll Wayne Elrod, 56, of Cherry Valley, Ark., died Tuesday, May 13, 2008, in a Memphis, Tenn., hospital.

Mr. Elrod was born Jan. 23, 1952, in Pittsburg, Texas. He was a Baptist and a Vietnam War Marine veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Sue Elrod of Cherry Valley; three sons, Andy Elrod of Corinth, Miss., and John Merrell Jr. and D.J. Ramsey of Cherry Valley; two daughters, Tina Merrell of Phoenix and Pamela Merrell of Cherry Valley; his mother, Mary Elrod of Bogata, Texas; one brother, Nolan Elrod of New Boston, Texas; one sister, Mary Ann Duke of Bogata; five grandchildren; and a number of other relatives.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. today at East New Hope Cemetery with Mark Osgatharp officiating. Burial will be under direction of Curry-Welborn Funeral Home.
