DE QUEEN, Ark.—Claudia Merle Highful Burt, 75, of De Queen died Thursday, May 15, 2008, at her home.

Mrs. Burt was born July 11, 1932, in Broken Bow, Okla. She was a homemaker and a Baptist. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Gwen Renee Brewer.

Survivors include her husband, Raymond Burt of De Queen; four daughters, Jeannie Bates of Eagletown, Okla., Carla Billingsley of Winthrop, Ark., and Georgette Bell and Sonya Brewer of De Queen; one brother, John Q. Garner of DeKalb, Texas; one sister, Evelyn Saxton of Grand Junction, Colo.; her mother-in-law, Bonnie Burt of De Queen; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives.

Graveside services will be 4:30 p.m. today at Clear Creek Cemetery with the Rev. J.L. Walker officiating. Burial will be under direction of Chandler Funeral Home.
