BETTY MONROE

Betty Jo Monroe, 85, of Texarkana, Ark., died Saturday, May 17, 2008, at her home.

Mrs. Monroe was born Sept. 2, 1922, in Idabel, Okla. She was a retired music and choir teacher at Arkansas High School and a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority.

Survivors include her husband, J. Troy “Rip” Monroe of Texarkana; one daughter and son-in-law, Cathy and Kenneth Clay of Texarkana; two sons, Pat Hurst of Little Rock and Mike Hurst of Dallas; one stepson, Barry Monroe of Texarkana; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at East Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Jimmy DeMoss officiating. Burial will be under direction of East Funeral Home, downtown.
